Painted Button-quail

Up to Flora and Fauna Observations

Painted Button-quail

Posted by Neville Bartlett at March 24. 2012

Caught sight of a Painted Button-quail near the water tank above our block.

Glen has confirmed the species and believes that it is a female.

These are quite common in Chiltern-Mt. Pilot National Park and have not been recorded here before to Glen's knowledge.

Also saw the first pair of Scarlet Robins for 2012 and this is a sign that winter is approaching.

The Black-shouldered Kite was at Middle Creek but did not wait for me to get a bit closer.

These are wonderful observations Neville - I was lucky enough to bskit last week as well at Everton

Aaron Sandford reported a painted button quail sighting in spring 2010 up on the range just south of the

trig point when we were up there as part of Jill's flora course.

Great to hear the scarlet robins are back look forward to seeing them on my walks again.

cheers

Tony
