NE Second Generation Landcare Grants 2010-11 now open

The North East CMA is encouraging environmental groups in the region to apply for a Second Generation Landcare Grant before they close on 19th March.

The Victorian Government is providing funding for Second Generation Landcare Grants to enable local Landcare and related community groups to finance projects that benefit the health of the region’s land and waterways.

The grants are open to incorporated community groups that want to improve the condition of their local environment. The grants range from $500 to help Landcare groups with running costs and up to $40,000 for larger projects.

Landcare, Junior Landcare, Community and ‘Friends of’ groups addressing environmental works like weed control, salinity and erosion mitigation and the protection and enhancement of native vegetation are encouraged to apply. Schools and Local Government can also apply in partnership with a community group.

“This is the fifth year that the North East Catchment Management Authority has supported community involvement in caring for the local environment and we encourage those interested to make sure they apply for a grant before they close on March 19,” said Tom Croft, the North East CMA’s Landcare Team Leader.

The 2010/11 grants round is now open and applications are due by March 19.
