Wetlands are Wonderful Competition

To help celebrate World Wetlands Day, the North East CMA is working in partnership with ABC Goulburn Murray to help raise awareness of wetlands and their important values over the month of February.

•   Wetlands are Wonderful’ competition – During February, ABC Goulburn Murray will encourage people to contribute images of a wetland in the region that is important to them. Entries will be published on the ABC website (and cross-promoted on the CMA website). ABC and the CMA will award binoculars and a wetlands ‘pack’ to the winner of this competition, to be announced on 29th February.

•   Weekly radio wetland interviews – Each Wednesday during February, ABC Goulburn Murray will interview one person on a wetland topic such as biodiversity and water quality; including farmers or community groups who have undertaken wetland restoration.

•   ABC Open - The wetlands theme will be incorporated into community training workshops that will be running across the region during this month.

Given that 90% of our region’s 2,000 wetlands are within or are bounded by private land the North East CMA would like to encourage as many people from the community as possible to capture a moment at their favourite wetland in the North East region.
