A series of training sessions, held throughout Victoria in October 2009 and March 2010, as part of the Department of Sustainability and Environment’s Landcare Volunteer Recruitment Initiative explored ways to motivate, encourage and recruit Landcare members and volunteers.
To encourage volunteering and increase membership across the State, the Volunteer Recruitment Initiative offered Landcare groups and networks an opportunity to apply for small grants of $1000 - $5000. This was a chance to get creative to recruit new volunteers or members into Landcare.
Session Notes from the Volunteer Action Training Workshops run by DSE in 2009 and 2010
Landcare activities are undertaken by a diverse team of volunteers – working together to make positive changes in land management. This manual highlights some key issues that can be considered to ensure your group is being as effective as possible in involving and deploying volunteers.
The Volunteer Action Project (VAP) grants are available to Landcare and community-based natural resource management groups/networks. The Victorian Government is encouraging groups and networks to get creative in developing projects that involve new volunteers, aim for new members and help in the protection and restoration of our natural environment.
